Adventures on a Tornado Tour - Part 7
The radars looked CRAZY. Granted, I have NO idea how to read a radar but there were LOTS of little thingies on it. :) Just kidding. You could see lots of storms lined up across Oklahoma - one to the North and like five lined up in the Southwest part of Oklahoma. Matt and Dave made the decision to stay South so that we could increase our chances of seeing a . So the chase was on. It seemed like we chased after several but, in reality, we could have been just repositioning around the same one - it was hard to keep track of that part of it. At one point, we saw a wall cloud and positioned ourselves so that it would pass right over our heads and then we just parked and watched. It went RIGHT over us, allowing us to see the circulation - it was really cool. It was eerily calm and there was a LOT of lightning. The lightning is so cool out there because you can see it hit and then just pulse. It's so amazing to watch. Anyway, the storm passed over us so then we raced to catch up with it. The day went like that - racing and stopping and racing and stopping. We saw some small funnels peek out but nothing ever happened with them. So no . . . you need to check it out when you get a chance! Matt and Dave were bummed that they hadn't picked the North storm but how the heck were they supposed to know?! Sticking with the greater number of storms seemed like the best call to me, too, so I still think they did a great job! In the end, it's really just a crap shoot . . . Anyway, our last night together was so much fun and I laughed and laughed and laughed. It was so sad to see it all come to an end! , the trip was a TOTAL SUCCESS for me. I really had a great time. The chase experience was really cool and our guides impressed me at every turn with their knowledge of weather and the storms we were chasing. It was not at all unusual for them to say a forecast was wrong and to make their own prediction of what the storm would do or where it would go. And they were right...

What do you think of this real life high speed car chase?
There's a 1980s T-Bird. In the back seat, in order from left to right, there's my sister, 23, my mom, 52, and my niece, 3. In the front, there's my dad, 40 something, and me, 14. We were in the east side of Sulphur, Oklahoma, on a road that runs north and south. The green pickup flew by going east on the road that intersects the one we were on. We tore after it, going 40 MPH(all of this is in MPH) on a 25 road. We turned left twice, and headed for Broadway, the main street in our town. The car went the same speed, 40, now in a 30. The pickup swerved between a large group of cars, and we got stuck behind them. We eventually got through, and we were now in a 35. The car's engine roared, and soon we were at 60 in a 35, then 70 or more, maybe up to 80. We swerved around the few cars like they were parked. We were at the west side of town now, and at the part where Broadway turns into a highway. We flew up to the pickup, got beside it, and finally the driver saw us. We slowed, and he swerved down into a ditch, then went up to the road. "Roll down your window, Jake," Dad said to me, and so I did. The pickup's driver walked over to us, and Dad asked the important question we could've got killed over: "Do you have that part for my car?"
This actually happened, I was laughing hard (inside, couldn't let it out unless I wanted yelled at by Mom) the whole way because Dad does this kind of stuff all the time, and Mom hates it. Mom's the kind of person who would go 30 on the interstate. She freaks out when Dad does this stuff, and now, an hour later, she's still upset about the baby being involoved in this "insane" thing. I thought it was pretty fun, though. What would you do if you were in the car?
I would have waited until we stopped and then beat the hell out of your father for driving like an a** with a baby in the car.

2010 NFL Mock Draft, Version 3.0
Jeff Risdon/RealGM - I began this one on Nov. 25th and the draft order is based on my projected final standings after Week 11 of NFL action. By popular request, this one goes to three full rounds. As with the last version, this mock draft includes loads of underclassmen with no regard to whether or not they will actually declare for the draft. There are a few omissions based on prevailing sentiment, most notably Cam Heyward. Note there is often little correlation between the mock draft selections and the Top 103 prospects ordination.
1. Cleveland Browns: Jake Locker, QB, Washington. Its almost a given there will be a new regime in place (Mike Holmgren?), and that regime will want to start fresh with its own QB. They dont need a left tackle and they dont need help on the DL, making QB the only logical pick because no other positions go #1 overall anymore.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska. The freakishly agile giant will
