Being a jack of all trades is so much fun. Nothing is impossible, I constantly test my limits to find out if that is really true or not. While there are many things I know how to do, I have my specialties. Every once and awhile, I get an urge to try something new. This leads me to acquiring new skills, opportunities and experiences.

Life Story: Maxine Mallicoat
Maxine excelled at about everything she set out to do -- and always had fun doing it.She was born in Gresham, the daughter of a Multnomah County sheriff, and graduated from Gresham High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd "Dale" Mallicoat, in 1941. They had three children: Robbin "Dale" in 1942; Marlene in 1944; and Steve in 1949.
They lived in Sandy, where Dale had an electronics shop, and then moved to a farm in Airlie. The farm was Dale's dream, but the seclusion wasn't for Maxine; she liked to be around people.
She started competing in fairs while they were on the farm, mostly to relieve boredom. When she started winning, she found she liked it.
They moved to Salem in 1953. Dale started working for the state, initially for the tax department, then became an assistant secretary of state and later was named chairman of the Oregon Land Board.
In Salem, Maxine started competing with a vengeance. In 1956, she won 200 pounds of sugar
